“What’s Happening?”
As harvest season winds down, the executive of Young Farmers of P.E.I. has been busy organizing events for this fall and beyond.
Ciaran Mulcahy of Sun Life Financial spoke to members in mid-October, providing an overview of life and disability insurance. Our annual Harvest Party was held October 24th at Carr’s Oyster Bar in Stanley Bridge. Since the 24th was around Halloween, we decided to turn it into a Halloween party. Retro Statik provided the dancing music, and it was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who attended and dressed up in Halloween costumes.
The organization meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Farm Center in Charlottetown. Young Farmers is holding a meeting this upcoming Tuesday, November 10th at 8:00pm at Farm Center, Charlottetown. Our guest speaker is Ronda Bellefontanie and going to give a demonstration on Farm Management Software.
The next meeting is going to be held Tuesday, December 8th same time and place; guest speaker TBA. Our Annual General Meeting will be held in January 2010, and the details are still being worked out. The popular PEI Young Farmers hockey game is heading back to Kensington and being organized for Saturday, January 16.
A big congrats to Gordie and Andrea McKenna, Jenna and Darren Reeves and Tyler and Lauren Howard. All three couples recently tied the knot.
We would like to congratulate the PEI Federation of Agriculture on this new magazine and hope you all enjoy it. We want to keep everyone updated on our events and meetings. Stay up to date with events and news on our Facebook group, “PEI Young Farmers” or our website www.peiyoungfarmers.com. Any questions or concerns, please feel free to email smithfarmspei@hotmail.com.
